When my Dad was a kid, they used to play the big records on this victrola.  He and his brother got into a wrestling match one day and broke one of the front legs.  Someone poorly patched the broken leg.  It set in a storage room for maybe 70 years and the finish turned black.  I carefully repaired the front leg, stripped it down, and applied new finish.  It still works fine (many of these Victrolas ended up with broken wind-springs because someone over-cranked it).

The albums inside include many old records....which all still play fine.
