In the summer of 2020, a friend of mine gave me a Lehmann-Gross-Bahn train set he bought at an auction.......because he knew I had a young grandson who liked trains. The contents of the box had never been unpackaged.......the wrapping around each component from the factory had not been removed yet. It is a model 92770, the box is dated august 1995, Lake George & Boulder RR. Since it was sold 26 years ago (today being 2021), I can't find out what it originally sold for. Used kits on Ebay run from $300 to $400.
My grandson and I excitedly opened up the box and put the train together. We fired it up, it ran fine for about 10 minutes, and the transformer quit. There is no way to service the transformer that I can see. I researched and bought a new transformer on Ebay. This transformer works fine.
$28 New transformer from Ebay
The kit had all curved track, just enough to make a circle around a Christmas Tree. It is brass colored to stand up outdoors. I decided to buy some plain steel straight track. In Sep of 2020, I bought some straight track from Trainz.com..............
Set up the big G-scale kit with the grandkids, and cars would not stay connected to each other at all !!!!!!!!!! Had to put rubber bank on locomotive hook and loop coupler just to be able to pull a car !!!!!! Looked like heighth between the couplings on the cars was too much for the couplers !!!!!!! Need to set up train set at home and see what is going on.
